How do we do it?
Sri Lanka is
unique in the opportunities it offers its travelers. The related
distances and ease of travel from the misty hills to the sandy beaches,
and rolling plains allow the riders the opportunity to ride in varying
landscapes during a short space of time.
You will be met at the ride location in the morning by the ride leader,
horses and helpers prior to mounting and setting off on your days ride.
A jeep equipped with extra equipment and first aid is always within easy
distance, contactable via a mobile phone carried by the ride leader.
Half-hour into the ride, you will be met by the helpers for a quick
re-checking of equipment before setting off yet again through the
villages of Sri Lanka. The ride will be led by an experienced ride
leader, (bi-lingual – Sinhalese & English), who will be guiding the
riders through their riding experience.
The rides on the itinerary would range from beaches to villages, tea
estates to jungles - a true meld of the island that is not often
witnessed by travellers that make their way to the island.
Each location offers an entirely different riding experience, from the
loping canters on the beaches to the blistering stamina required for
climbing the hills in the tea estates. Therefore, due to the nature of
the rides themselves, it is advised that only riders with sufficient
riding experience engage in these holidays. Riders should have an
independent seat, and be able to maintain control of their horses
through the basic gaits – walk, trot and canter for a reasonable amount
of time.
A minimum of 02 riders and a maximum of 6 riders are taken on our rides,
with a maximum rider weight of 80 kg.
